The Haemorrhoids (spelling optional) were founded in New York City in 1980 by Sahotra Sarkar, Steve Peterson, and George Mostoller (in his pre-Hawk Tubley days). Members came and went, but included at various times Frank Chmely, Tim Moran, Mitch Wachtel, Majid Arab, BBQ Bob Pomeroy, Tom Alfano, Laura Jensen, and others. TIm Horrigan, now a New Hampshire State Representative, was briefly our manager. We wrote a few songs for the band, including "Space Unit Blues", "Limp Thing", and our theme song, "I'm A Roid." We only played two live shows (including the notorious CBGB gig), neither of which were documented. A cassette tape of one of our acoustic practice sessions is all that remains, and of this, only three tracks survive the technical limitations of our primitive recording device, which was not much more than a portable dictaphone. The first track ("Louie") was our straight-up rock number; the second (here called "Air Show") was some free form extrapolation. The final track and the highlight of the session, "Creation (The History Of The World)," was our attempt to record an epic musical portrayal of Earth history, from the primordial ooze through the evolution of man to the inevitable apocalypse.
